do your ashes tremble
Juan Miguel Torres
what have you to say
you hero corpses of bygone days
can your red colored bodies
withstand the hollow pain
of genocidal glory and patriotic shame
do your ashes tremble
as your sons assemble
do they follow you in courage
remembering your lustful fervor
as your foes’ heads lingered forever
what have you to say
you soldiers now clay
can you not wash the tragedies
of your bloodied and blinded hate
and kindle rays into your sons’ determined fate
and as your corpses lie somber
still your ashes wonder
will it end or will it never
…do your ashes tremble
As your sons assemble
